The longest running of the current digital slotcar systems, SSD is available in both 4 car and 6 car systems (though 6 car power bases are now discontinued and in short supply). The digital track is fully compatible with Scalextric Sport track and, by using conversion or adaptor pieces, Scalextric classic, SCX and Ninco track as well.

 

SSD decoder chips are probably the easiest to fit to any make of car (as long as there is space inside the body) but do require soldering skills and may need some modification of the body or chassis plastic to fit. Decoder chips come in 2 sizes; one for saloon / GT cars with plenty of space inside the body and one for single seater cars or cars with limited space inside the body.

 

Slot.IT also sell an SSD compatible decoder chip that is specifically designed to fit neatly in the Slot.IT chassis with minimal modifications and to cope with the higher powered motors used by Slot.IT.

 

Digital Plug Ready

Scalextric have also announced for 2007 a range of cars and plugs that allow a very quick and simple conversion.
